Porter Cable FR350A Nailers
At the bottom of the Porter Cable FR350A Nail Gun is the air inlet which was mentioned earlier in the article. There is a threaded adaptor supplied, however, it may not fit your current air line setup. In this case you will need a 'male' threaded adaptor. You will need to seal the adaptor before it has been fit by wrapping thread sealing tape around it.
This will keep the adaptor fitting air tight. Do not take the text above the air inlet that says "Oil Daily," lightly. Place 5-6 drops of air tool oil (oil has been provided in the package) into the air inlet before each use.
If using the Nail gun excessively, add an extra drop to keep parts well lubricated. It is imperative that your hand does not slip while you driving a frame nail; therefore we have placed a removable no-mar rubber grip that can be found on the nose of the safety release on the nail gun.

One of my favorite features of this particular tool is that it is so quick and easy to switch between restrictive trigger mode of contact and contact actuation (a.k.a. "bounce firing" mode). Instead of having to replace the entire trigger just to switch modes, the modes can be switched in one easy step which saves lots of valuable time. On the trigger you will find a small red wheel dial which is spring loaded.
After pushing the dial out from the opposite side of the trigger and releasing it from the socket, it can be easily changed to restrictive or contact actuation mode. What a simple task! The main difference between restrictive fire mode and contact actuation mode is this:
With restrictive fire mode you have to first press deeply into the nose of the safety release, pushing it into the work piece and then pull the trigger to fire a nail. This is obviously the safer route because it ensures that one does intend to fire a nail, rather than doing it accidentally. It also provides one with greater precision.
With contact actuation, simply holding the trigger in will fire a nail just like that. The advantage of contact actuation mode is that you can obviously get the job done quicker and more efficiently.
I will warn that contact actuation is much safer and personally, it is my preference because it is not such a great deal slower that it will incur great time loss. It is easy for one to accidentally hurt themselves by embedding a nail in their own body. Not a good thing! Please have a good deal of respect for these tools as they are more powerful than one might think.
